National Museum Of The United States Marine Corps
February 23rd, 2010

My Fellow Legionnaires:

Just wanted to drop you all a quick note to let you all know, that your Sgt at Arms George Masten and myself have returned safely from a 4 Day whirlwind Tour of Virginia. We went to the National Museum of The United States Marine Corps.

George and I had a great time. We saw the actual Flag that the 5 Marines, and 1 Navy Corpsman, raised on Mount Surabachi, during the battle for Iwo Jima, on February 23rd, 1945.

George and I saw the Flag, 65 years to the day later. February 23rd, 2010. We were deeply moved by it.

The Marine Corps Museum is a must stop for all Patriotic Americans, as there is something there for everyone. And again, all kidding aside, I couldn't have picked a saltier Marine to be with on this historic day, than George Masten. A Korean War and Vietnam War Combat Veteran.

And if any of you can stand it, I'd be happy to discuss the trip with you, at our next meeting. I'm a little shy when it comes to speaking in front of a large group of people, but I'm willing to give it a shot for you guys.

I came home from that trip, a little prouder of our country than I was, when I left. History and real life situations, can do that to a man. And there was plenty of that in those exhibits. Can't wait to see you all and share the images and stories with you.

God Bless you all and as always...God Bless America.

Ralph G. Fatello
Commander POST 35

Veterans Day 2009
My Fellow Legionnaires:

The web gallery of photos taken by Post 35 member John Carden from yesterday's Veterans Day Observances is up. And you should all take a look at it. John is an amazing professional photographer and he was assigned to shoot us yesterday. As always, John goes beyond the assignment for the newspapers because he is one of us. A Proud Air Force Veteran. A proud member of Post 35. He shot some great photos all morning long. Really good stuff. Check it out (link below). Veterans Day November 11, 2009

Thank you all again for coming out yesterday. Thank you for your service. Thanks to those who held flags, and weapons in the color guard. Thanks to Joe Kutt and John Holman Chaplain duties. Thanks to SSGT George Masten and Rifle Squad. Thanks to Elaine Weatherby and Mark Weatherby. You have to love the Weatherby family. A big thanks to our guest speaker, Captain Mike Edgar CB "Can Do" or my favorite "We Build We Fight". *I like that he saved the best speech for the last one.

I hope to see you all on Saturday Night. God Bless.

Ralph G. Fatello
Commander POST 35

P.S. Did any of you see the story of the 197th on Channel 11 last night? It was awesome. Really well done. CSM John Barvenik was outstanding. I'm sure copies can be obtained of this really well done piece. It is a huge part of our State and National history in the Vietnam War.

 Welcome to Post 35.com
This website was created and launched on
November 11th, 2002.

The symbolic launching the site on Veteran's Day is because of the strong Veteran's Community here on the Seacoast. The website is dedicated to the late Maurice Brown, the best Post Historian we've ever had. Maurice passed away this past August. He knew this site was coming and was looking forward to seeing it. Now, it seems it is only fitting that we dedicate it in his memory. This site is for you Maurice.

The website will be another way to communicate with the members. Much like that of the newsletter, the website will be a valuable tool to all the members who have computers
and enjoy this type of activity. We will post information such as schedule events such
as monthy meetings to annual dinners and other points of interests for post members.

We encourage any and all feedback, and welcome anyone wanting to contribute to this site. After all, it is your site Legionaires. Please feel free to get involved.
Again, the site is in the infant stages as we have only begun to scratch the surface of
what will surely become a fun way to stay in touch with your Post.

Thank you and God Bless America!
